Develop a X.org configuration tool

The hardware detection for video is a little more complex than other peripheral. The video kernel module specification is in xorg.conf file among with other settings. Here we have to make a choice.
  1. Write a little application that probes the video basic settings (like video card kernel module) and then launch the X server with a standard configuration. The fine tunning will be made with a graphic application. I'm thinking in something like a control panel. In this case the presence of a Window manager is required.
  2. Write the configuration tools as console applications and then launch qemu in fullscreen mode. This way we can remove the window manager. To accomplish this task we can use ncurses or something like that.
In both cases the user-defined configuration info may be cached for next reboots. This may include a default image to start on reboot.
